The trails will be muddy, but the weather looks good for the holiday weekend.
If you have not planned your weekend of Adirondack outdoor adventures yet, get on it. After what seemed like 40 days and 40 nights of rain, the clouds lifted and are blowing away on a leave-rustling breeze. And the sun came out! The weather forecast for the Adirondack region promises six days of warmth and sunshine. They promise.
The rainy spell that just ended was not all bad. The famously verdant Adirondack Mountain flora rely on abundant rainfall, and the Adirondack fauna rely on the flora. The resident biologist cautiously told me bear/human interactions are down this year because of the plentiful natural food. Fingers are crossed this continues.
Outdoor recreation is the order of the day for the coming holiday weekend. If you are planning a trip, check out New York State’s Outdoor Recreation Report for the Adirondack region. The hiking trails will be muddy and all bodies of water are high and rushing, so be careful, but have fun. It’s good for you.
