Winter made itself comfortable in Lake Placid early this year. It is only mid-December and the Adirondacks are blanketed in snow with more on the way this weekend. Today dawned bitter cold and the temperature is scheduled to fall as the day proceeds. This means the snow will stay dry and light; powder, a skier’s delight.
This presents us with the delighted skiers dilemma: in addition to work obligations, there are cookies and granola to be baked, Adirondack holiday decorations to gather, and the pace is already picking up in Lake Placid. Thanks to the great early winter snow and the multitude of events, competitive and celebratory, this holiday season is an unusually busy one in the Adirondacks.
But the beautiful, fluffy, falling snow is the story right now. And the story gets better: the weather people say a Nor’easter is en route to the East Coast and is expected to bring 6 -12 inches of snow to the Adirondack region. Regular readers know what this means….ski, ski, ski!
