Fall’s Russet Last Gasp in the Adirondacks

Mist rides the Adirondack High Peaks.

It finally feels like autumn in the Adirondacks. Spoiled by this year’s unusually warm and sunny fall, today’s chilly drizzle caused an outerwear double take. I was counting on shirt sleeves but the weather said coat. There are more leaves on the ground than on the trees and the moist air is thick with the rich smell of their decay. These are the days for outdoor recreation and mountain living.
