Happy Autumn Equinox from the Adirondacks!

Adirondacks first day of fall 2013 foliage 09-22-13

It is official: Summer is over in the Northern Hemisphere.

Fall is over quickly in the Adirondacks; short and sweet, as the saying goes. The leaves start changing in late July when more southern parts are in the thick of summer heat. As you can see in today’s featured photo from this morning, by the time we get to the Equinox and official fall, the Adirondacks appear to be halfway through the season. For this reason, fall outdoor pursuits in the Adirondacks should be enjoyed frequently, whenever one can, because by mid-October, the leaves are down and it can feel like winter.
