Mid-January Double Whammy Adirondack Snowstorm

Snow Enthusiasts Finally Delighted in Lake Placid, New York

Lake Placid Olympic Cross-country trails flags by Adirondack Lifestyle

The moderate 2011-2012 winter weather pattern plaguing snow country appears to be on its way out.  Skiing in and around the Lake Placid region is nearing excellent conditions.  Here at Adirondack Lifestyle HQ we  received 4 inches of heavy wet snow yesterday followed by a light, freezing drizzle early this morning. Temperatures dropped and the drizzle turned to snow and before noon today the roads were covered in snow.

Thirteen degrees colder and four inches of fluff later, and both snow and the temperatures continue to fall.  Conservative forecasts are calling for an additional few inches of snow by Saturday, morning. I believe the region will see at least 6 inches of additional lake effect snow over the holiday weekend.

The Adirondack backcountry is ready for skiing, groomed cross-country centers will have excellent conditions, and Whiteface should be cold but fun.

Go get ’em!
