Big Weekend in the Adirondacks

There is a great deal going on this weekend in the Adirondacks. So much in fact, that I can’t mention it all here, so I suggest you check out the Lake Placid/Essex County Visitor’s Bureau site where Jim and staff keep a great events calendar. Skiing at the Olympic venues; Whiteface and Mt. Van Hoevenberg, is very good.
Today’s picture highlights one of my favorite Adirondack Great Camps.
“Situated on 6.5 acres of meadow and mature forest with spectacular 180° views encompassing Whiteface Mountain, the Intervale Ski Jumps, the Sentinel Mountain Range and the McKenzie Mountain Range - this site is just awesome!! A pedestrian easement meanders throughout Pine Brook Farm connecting this site to the historic John Brown Farm and hundreds of acres of New York State land for unsurpassed outdoor recreation pursuits. The loj is being constructed with materials and in the style of the Adirondack Great Camps - natural log interior beams and native hardwoods, massive field stone fireplaces and exterior stone accents, bark-on exterior cedar posts and authentic Adirondack twig work - just the materials and style that you would expect in an elegant loj of a century ago. The majestic loj will encompass 6,500 square feet of finished living area, plus a privately accessed, 650 square foot bonus room above the garage. All of this located just minutes from the Village of Lake Placid.”
I know, that was quite a commercial, but it is a cool place, and at least you get extra pictures.
